Rohan, 5 miles away, has a much larger lake complete with its own beach and fishing areas. Here you can also enjoy large tennis courts and a children's play area but Rohan has more to offer: as well as the usual small shops, boulangeries and eateries the Nantes-Brest canal runs through the town and as well as enjoying beautiful walks along the towpath, you can also see the working locks and painted buildings.
Loudéac is situated north of Rohan and has a wonderful swimming centre that houses a swimming pool with a 70m water slide, a shallow pool for children, a 'river', a jacuzzi and a spa-bath. There is also a café to relax in and enjoy a pastry. Go on: after all that exercise you deserve it.
Forêt de Loudéac which has 2,500 hectares sits just outside the town. This was originally part of the Brocéliande forest which stretched across Brittany. With 30 miles of marked footpaths it has protected plants and wildlife. A nearby riding centre, a fishing discovery centre, ponds, play areas, a disused railway line that offers a shaded sunken path; there's plenty to be discovered in and around Loudéac whether you are on foot, bike or even on horseback!
